Frequently Asked Questions
What is Ecofix Plus used for?
Ecofix Plus is a bio-based, water-based PU impregnating oil that gives timber an untreated, ultra-matte appearance. It is invisible once applied — the timber looks and feels raw while being protected against moisture, stains, and wear. Ideal for contemporary Scandinavian-style interiors.
How do Ciranova Reactive Stains work?
Reactive Stains chemically react with the natural tannins in the wood fibre rather than sitting on the surface like pigmented stains. This produces deep, natural-looking colour variations that follow the grain pattern. Results vary by timber species — high-tannin species like Oak and Spotted Gum produce the strongest colour change.
What is Pink Blocker?
Pink Blocker is a two-component reactive stain specifically designed to neutralise the pink/red tones in timber species like Tassie Oak and Victorian Ash. It reacts with tannins to produce cool grey or brown tones without the pink cast that these species commonly show under standard oils and lacquers.
Does Ciranova Hardwax Oil Titan need a hardener?
Adding the H7L Hardener UA is optional but recommended. Without hardener, Titan cures through oxidation (slower). With 5% hardener added, cure time is significantly reduced and the film achieves maximum hardness faster. The hardener is recommended for commercial applications and high-traffic residential areas.
Can Ciranova products be used over Rubio Monocoat or Berger-Seidle finishes?
Not directly. Each finish system has its own chemistry. To switch between brands, the existing finish must be fully sanded back to bare timber first. Mixing finish systems will cause adhesion failure.
