For interior floors, Diamond Oil Active is WOCA's premium single-component, hard-wearing oil for untreated or newly sanded timber in all species, available in Natural, White and a range of colours. Outside, WOCA Exterior Wood Oil is a plant-based, water-carried penetrating oil with built-in UV protection for decks, pergolas, fencing and outdoor furniture. Colour results vary by species, so test every product on an offcut of the same timber first.

How to choose a WOCA product

  • Interior oiled floors: Diamond Oil Active suits homes and commercial floors that need maximum durability. Hardwax Oil Extreme combines oil and wax in a breathable, low-VOC finish in Natural or White.
  • Decks and outdoor timber: clean with Exterior Wood Cleaner, let the timber dry completely (at least 24 to 48 hours), sand rough fibres with 120 grit, then apply Exterior Wood Oil in thin, even coats. Use Exterior Wood Primer first on absorbent or non-pressure-treated softwoods such as pine, but not on red cedar or pressure-treated hardwood. For untreated furniture, pergolas and fences you want to keep silver-grey, use Exterior Wood Shield.
  • Changing the colour: Wood Lye (White or Grey) reduces yellowing on all species, Softwood Lye is for pine, spruce and larch, Driftwood Lye and Antique Oak Lye react with the tannins in oak, and Pre-colour is a water-based stain in White, Grey or Black. These are interior pre-treatments that do not protect the timber, so finish with a WOCA oil.
  • Raw, untreated look: the Invisible Oil system, Invisible Oil Primer followed by Invisible Oil, keeps an authentic untreated appearance, with Invisible Oil Care for maintenance.
  • Cleaning and care: Natural Soap for weekly cleaning of oiled floors, Oil Refresher to clean and re-oil in one step, and Intensive Wood Cleaner before re-oiling. For lacquered floors, use Master Cleaner Soap and Master Care.

The WOCA Oil and Soap Care Cycle

A WOCA oiled floor lasts longer when the care products match the oil and are used in the right order.

Once the oil has cured, clean weekly with Natural Soap in lukewarm water using two buckets, one for soap and one for rinsing, and a well-wrung mop. Use the White versions on white-oiled floors and Natural on natural or coloured oil.

For quarterly maintenance, use Oil Refresher, which cleans and leaves a thin oil film in one step. Keep Intensive Wood Cleaner for preparation before Maintenance Oil: it removes residual oil, so the floor must be re-oiled afterwards.

Which WOCA interior floor oil should I choose?

Which WOCA floor cleaner suits lacquered or oiled floors?

Match the cleaner to the finish. On oiled, waxed or soaped timber, use Natural Soap for regular cleaning. On lacquered timber, vinyl or laminate, use Master Cleaner Soap for weekly cleaning and Master Care to reduce the look of fine scratches. Commercial Soap is a universal cleaner for all wood finishes, plus tile, vinyl, LVT and stone.

What do WOCA wood lyes do?

Lyes are interior pre-treatments applied to raw, freshly sanded timber before oiling. Wood Lye reduces yellowing and gives a whitewashed or driftwood look on all species, Softwood Lye is for pine, spruce and larch, and Driftwood Lye and Antique Oak Lye react with tannins in oak for weathered or smoked looks. Antique Oak Lye's colour develops fully over 1 to 2 months. None protects the timber, so finish with a WOCA oil.

Can I use WOCA Exterior Wood Oil on Australian hardwood decks?

Yes. WOCA Exterior Wood Oil is made for decks as well as pergolas, fencing and outdoor furniture. Clean with Exterior Wood Cleaner, let the timber dry completely (at least 24 to 48 hours), sand rough fibres with 120 grit, then apply thin, even coats. The primer is for absorbent softwoods such as pine, not pressure-treated hardwood. Black, Anthracite and Walnut need a final coat of Natural. Maintain it regularly.

Does WOCA make a stain for timber floors?

Yes. WOCA Pre-colour is a water-based stain for unfinished or newly sanded interior timber, sold in White, Grey and Black. It gives colour only, so it must be finished with a WOCA oil. WOCA's instructions call for product, room and floor temperatures of 15 to 25°C, timber moisture no higher than 12%, a final sanding grit of 100 to 120, and cleaning with Intensive Wood Cleaner first.
